Alarm Blows: DVLA Top Shot Has Swore-In  Newly-elected Executives  Of NUGS; Amounts To Breach  Of NUGS Constitution
Mr. Akwasi Atuahene has stated categorically that the newly-elected executives of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) had completely breached Article 19/ 6 of the NUGS Constitution.

According to him, the decision by the leadership of NUGS to invite a worker from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to swear in the newly elected executives of NUGS instead of a high Court Judge amounts to a breach of the NUGS Constitution.

He pointed out that the handover of power to the new crops of the executives of the Union was being supervised by a worker from DVLA.

He stressed that this was not a good practice where a High Court Judge is being mandated by law to swear in President and his/her executives.
Mr. Atuahene stated that the just-ended National Union of Ghana Students elections held at the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Village at Ejisu in the Ashanti Region was flawed and incredible.

According to Mr. Atuahene who also is a contestant, the current elections had no Electoral Commission, no voters which go contrary to article 19/ 6 of the NUGS constitution.
"The commission shall comprise of, a commissioner who shall be the legal of the team of electoral officers from the National Electoral Commission, Secretary, who shall be a student representative and 5 others of two students and 3 National EC officers," he quizzed.
He is of the view that government wants to divide student unions with their apparatus at the youth front.
He added that the government is empowering some unscrupulous group of students to disrespect an injunction application before the Accra High Court on the swearing-in and handing-over ceremony of the National Union of Ghana Students.
