Over five hundred victims of the fire disaster that destroyed Akyem Oda Central market on September 13, 2021, have each received support from the Microfinance and Small Loan Center (MASLOC).

The loan is in fulfilment of a promise made by President Akufo Addo during his tour to the market and meeting with the affected traders in October 2021.

Each of the victims received two thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc2,000) interest-free loans which the beneficiaries have been given a grace period of a year before they start repayment of the loan.

CEO of MASLOC, Abibata Shanni Mahama Zakariah opined, the money was in fulfilment of the promise made by His Excellency, President Nana Akufo-Addo.

She urged the beneficiaries to utilize the loan for its intended purpose to enable them to bounce back to business as early as possible.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, pleaded with the beneficiaries to honour their repayment obligations to enable others to also benefit in times of financial distress.

He also disclosed that other arrangements have been put in place with the Ghana Enterprises Agency to also assist the victims.

The former Minister of Finance, former MP for Oda Yaw Osafo Marfo, and the current member of Parliament Alexander Akwasi Acquah were all present to grace the occasion.
