The former Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akwatia Constituency of the Eastern Region, Honourable Erasmus Koney Ali popularly known as Asanka Payooyo, has made a passionate appeal to assembly members in the Denkyembour District to unanimously endorse Mr Ahmed Umur (Tutu), the presidential nominee for the Denkyembour District Chief Executive (DCE) position.
He emphasised that any delay in the confirmation process would not only stall the district’s development agenda but also impact the timely disbursement of allowances to assembly members.
He underscored the significance of collaboration between local government and traditional leaders to accelerate development.
He pointed out that the government's decision to integrate the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization, and Rural Development with the Ghana Tourism Authority and Religious Affairs demonstrates a renewed focus on fostering cooperation between the state and traditional rulers.
"This initiative is to restore the honor and respect for our chiefs and traditional leaders. When we come together, we can achieve greater things," Mr Ali stated.
The NDC top shot warned that any attempt to delay the confirmation of the nominee would have significant consequences for the district’s growth
"I am calling on the Assembly members in the area to vote massively to give a hundred percentage confirmation to the newly-appointed District Chief Executive (DCC) of Denkyembour District Assembly, Mr Ahmed Umur (Tutu).
In a press release from the office of Asanka Project and copied to this news outlet, Mr Koney Ali stated categorically thar "l am by this press release writing to express and pledge my sincere prayers and support to the District Chief Executive nominee Mr Ahmed Umur (Tutu) for a peaceful and successful confirmation as the District Chief Executive for Denkyembour on Wednesday May 7, 2015 at Denkyembour District Assembly Hall at 10.00 AM.
"Have taken notice of the upcoming confirmation event on social media which l have confirmed to be true, l encourage all the Assembly members to consider the interest and development of the district ahead of any other consideration and vote massively to confirm the President’s nominee to spearheaded and implement government policies to reset the district we all want and for benefit of all."
In conclusion, Mr Ali maintained that "I reiterate my unwavering support and commitment to the nominee and the development of Denkyembour District."
