Akufo-Addo Must Reconstruct Kasoa- Budumburam-Winneba Road Now
The NDC Secretary for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mr. Amadu Tuariq M.S has waded into the police administration deployment of the special police team to regulate the traffic situation along Kasoa-Budumburam- Winneba(K-B-W) road in the Central Region
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Secretary for Awutu Senya East Constituency in the Central Region, Mr. Amadu Tuariq M.S, has waded into the police administration deployment of the special police team to regulate the traffic situation along Kasoa-Budumburam- Winneba(K-B-W) road in the Central Region.
In an interview with our reporter, Mr. Amadu who is a resident of Odupong Kasoa applauded the Acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare on steps taken to mitigate the sufferings of Kasoa-Budumburam- Winneba(K-B-W) road users, most especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
According to him, the deployment of the MTTD wing of the Police both from the Kasoa District and Breku District is a step in the right direction.
"In applauding him and his men and women, I pray him to add his voice to those of us calling on the man on whose broad chest and shoulders the "YEAR OF ROADS" mantra rests, to compliment the IGP's efforts by considering the constructions of the under-listed Roads," he noted.
On the dualization of 11.6Km Yoo-Mart -Budumburam-Awutu Breaku-Akoti Junction Road, Mr. Amadu stated that as the former PRO of the Kasoa Interchange Project, the former MCE for the Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly, Hon Dr. Adams Nuhu, he tabled a proposal to the Parliamentary Select Committee on Roads, Works and Housing in 2015, to consider extending the dualization of the 3km Justab Hospital point to Yoo-mart(which formed part of the Kasoa Interchange Project(KIP)) to cover up to Akoti.
This he stated that the committee has accepted.
According to him, the Consultant to the KIP then St Ann's International Development, came up with designs and drawings to that effect.
He pointed out that its funding was to be tied to the government of Ghana (GoG).
However, the idea did not see the light of day due to the change of government after 2016.
"I hope and pray that the Minister in charge of Roads and Highways will take it up to lessen the sufferings of residents and rod users.
"Besides I know the Hon Amoako Atta has paid a working visit to this road corridor twice between 2017 and 2021, with his recent, being as May 2021. Although he has given indications to see to the Dualization of that stretch even beyond the 11.6km on both visits, nothing concrete is being done," he stated.
He stressed the Minister of Roads and Highways, Hon Amoako Atta needs to consider repackaging the Kasoa -Bawjuasi-Kwanyako-Agona Swedru Road(K-B-K-As).
He bemoaned that the bad nature of this equally important road network has forced travelers on that stretch into using the main Kasoa -Budumburam -Winneba stretch from Accra.
He indicated that it was awarded on contract in 2016 but has stalled due to the change in government after the 2016 election.
"I pray the Minister and government to consider these two road projects as their construction will bring a lot of relief not only to drivers and passengers but also to our farmers and traders at Bawjuasi, Kwanyako, Swedru, Adeiso in the Lower West Akim District and its surrounding towns and villages," he noted.
