The Akim Oda main Market has been raided down by fire about 9 hours ago.

The central market of Oda, the municipal capital of Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region of Ghana has been burnt to ashes following a fire on Monday evening September 13, 2021, which started a few minutes after 8 pm lasted for over 6 hours before the personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service were able to douse the inferno.

Information gathered from the grounds indicates that, while the fire started around 8 pm on the evening, it was quenched around 2 am on September 14.

An eye witnessed says multiple stalls and properties have been destroyed, but as of now, the GNFS are yet to officially issue the cause of the fire and the number of properties destroyed.

Moreover, some traders are allegedly accusing the GNFS personnel of their delay to the scene after calls were sent to their outfit for immediate intervention to prevent the spread of the inferno.

No casualties were recorded even though properties worth Hundreds of Thousands have been burnt to ashes.
