Agenda 111 is my greatest investment - Nana Akufo Addo

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has touted the Agenda 111 project as his biggest ever investment in the nation's health care since he assumed power from Ghanaians to be the leader of the West African country.

According to him, the exposure of Ghana’s health system due to the coronavirus outbreak compelled embarking on such a project to refurbish the health system, as contained in the 8th Covid-19 address on April 26, 2020, to build 88 hospitals.

“Today is a happy day for mother Ghana and I am glad it is under my tenure as president of the republic that the biggest investment in the nation’s healthcare is being made,” Nana Addo Dankwa said.

“We have met because of the ravages of the covid-19 which has affected every country of the planet. For us in Ghana, not only has the pandemic affected our daily lives, it has also exposed the deficiencies of our healthcare system because of the years of under-investment and neglect.”

The President was in the Ashanti Region, Trede in the Atwima Kwanwoma District on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, to break grounds for the commencement of the construction of 111 hospitals under the Agenda 111 initiative across the country.

Addressing Ghanaian stakeholders, Nana Akufo Addo highlighted that a lot of work has been done to make the vision a reality. He informed that 88 out of the 101 sites have been identified, including the site for the construction of the Atwima Kwanwoma District Hospital.

He calculated that the cost of every hospital is USD16.8 million.

“Work on the other 87 sites also commenced today,” he said.

“The acquisition of the remaining 13 sites will be completed shortly for work to begin. Each hospital is being constructed at the cost of USD16.8 million, that is USD12.8 million for construction and USD4 million for medical equipment.”

Representing Otumfuo Osei Tutu was Nana Akyena Kwagyan V, Manso Asuonwunuhene, who also assured the President that His Royal Highness is solidly behind him.
