Rincón, 55, was admitted to the hospital on Monday after an automobile collision in the early hours of the day, according to CNN en Espaol, which cited local media.
According to the Cali Undersecretary of Mobility, Edwing Candelo, the accident included a van with four occupants, including the former footballer, and a bus.
According to Candelo, five persons were hurt in the incident.

Glory in the World Cup
Rincón represented Colombia in three World Cups (1990, 1994, and 1998), scoring 17 goals in 84 appearances.

He was born in the western Colombian town of Buenaventura in 1966 and was a significant member of his country's golden generation in the 1990s.

He is best known for scoring against West Germany at the 1990 World Cup in Milan's San Siro stadium, securing a 1-1 draw, and ensuring Colombia a berth in the Round of 16 after a 28-year absence from the competition.

Rincón also scored two goals in Argentina's famous 5-0 victory in Buenos Aires in 1993.

He won three trophies while playing for Santa Fe and América de Cali in Colombia.
Rincón joined Brazilian club Palmeiras in 1994 before relocating to Europe. He began his career with Italian club Napoli before joining Spanish juggernaut Real Madrid, where he became the first Colombian to play in La Liga.
Rincón returned to Brazil in 1996, when he helped Corinthians win three domestic crowns and a Club World Cup.

He finished his playing career in 2004 and went on to coach third-division teams in Brazil. In 2010, he worked as an assistant coach for former Brazil coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo at Atlético Mineiro, and in 2019, he worked as an assistant coach for Jorge Luis Pinto at Millonarios de Colombia.
