Afenyo-Markin's Criticisms Rebuked: Ayeni Defends Search Of Former Bank Of Ghana Governor's Home

Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayeni has issued a stern warning to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, cautioning him to cease defaming law enforcement agencies and himself.

This warning comes amidst controversy surrounding the search of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison's home, which Afenyo-Markin has vehemently criticized.

Ayeni defended the search, emphasizing that it was conducted under a legally sanctioned warrant issued by the High Court.

He clarified that the operation was not a "raid" but a constitutionally sanctioned search, allowed under Article 18 of the Constitution within legal limits. Ayeni also criticized Afenyo-Markin for attempting to tarnish the reputation of law enforcement agencies, dismissing allegations that officials stole GHS 10,000 during the search as an "insult."

This isn't the first time Ayeni and Afenyo-Markin have been at odds. During Ayeni's vetting as Attorney General-designate, Afenyo-Markin walked out of the proceedings, accusing the Chairman of bias against NPP members.

The incident sparked widespread debate, with some defending Afenyo-Markin's actions as a stand for fairness, while others criticized the walkout as an overreaction to procedural disagreements.

Ayeni has vowed to act within ethical and legal boundaries while ensuring justice is served. His warning to Afenyo-Markin serves as a testament to his commitment to upholding the law and protecting the integrity of law enforcement agencies.
