The Minority in Parliament is urging President Nana Akufo-Addo to immediately address the nation on steps taken to curb the spread of covid 19.

It comes as the country begins to experience an increase in infection cases in what seems like a third wave. The latest figures from the Ghana Health Service stands Ghana's active cases at 2,314, up from a little above 1000 a few weeks ago.

Speaking with the Parliamentary Press Corps, minority spokesperson on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh attributed the situation to the government's delayed second vaccination exercise.

“The government does not take the required measures to prevent the pandemic from spreading, but it is planning to vaccinate 1 million people in the country by now,” he continued.

“Most hospitals do not have Covid-19 testing kits, therefore patients pay an amount of GH 360 to 600gh, which is not supposed to be the case,” he explained.
He also advised Ghanaians to be cautious and aware of the pandemic.

He stated that the country as a whole, as well as the administration, lack adequate measures to halt the pandemic's rapid spread and protect the people who live there.

“Because most hospitals that accept patients infected with the virus are already at capacity, we are pleading with everyone to be cautious and follow all protocols,” he said.
