Thomas Tuchel says a win against Manchester United this weekend will be huge towards their challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League.

Chelsea clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and victory for both sides will play a significant role as the competition intensifies.

Tuchel since taking over Chelsea is yet to lose a game, after unbeaten in eight matches. The Red Devils have a decent away run and the records of the two will uphold the competitiveness of the game especially with six points separating the two.

A win for fifth-placed Chelsea closes the gap to three hence the huge implications according to former Paris Saint Germain manager.

“Hopefully we can win, this is what we go for,” Tuchel said.

“We know that it is a big challenge because of their unbeaten away record so far. We know what we are up against, a team that can hurt you any second with individual quality and with speed.

“They are a strong team away, they can defend very compact and they are very, very good in transition. Whoever plays it will be a big challenge to defend all this, to defend counter-attacks.

“The implications are huge. If we get a win out of this game, it is huge and if they get a win, it is huge for them to increase the difference between us.”

Thiago Silva will not be in contention as he continues his recovery from a muscle injury sustained at Tottenham earlier this month.

‘He did an individual session today, on the pitch, and felt it was big progress,’ reported Tuchel.

‘It’s a big step ahead for him, so I hope he will join the group next week.’

Chelsea will visit Anfield to play Liverpool in their next fixture.
