A person died of Aids-related illness every minute in 2021

According to recent UNAids statistics, an Aids-related sickness claimed one life every minute in 2021.

Additionally, it predicts that "in 2021, an adolescent girl or young woman acquired a new HIV infection every two minutes."

This year's Global UNAids conference was held in Montreal, Canada, when the report, In Danger, was released.

In 2021, females and young girls made about 49% of all new infections worldwide. However, in the same year, they were responsible for 63 per cent of all new infections in sub-Saharan Africa.

The statistics show that at least 1.5 million new HIV infections occurred in the past year.

The data also demonstrates that new HIV infections are increasing in areas where they were previously declining.

Even if failure would be fatal, it is not a given. By 2030, Aids can be eradicated. But the curve won't automatically bend. The executive director of UNAids, Winnie Byanyima, stated, "We have to take it down.

There are 38.4 million HIV-positive persons living in the world. More than half of people infected with the virus (20.6 million) are found in Eastern and Southern Africa, which carries the heaviest burden globally.
