The prosecutor continued that, upon his arrest, the accused, Rafiu Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the five counts and informed the police that, he wanted to set a record of being the only person to break into the bank.

A 27-year-old young man has been sentenced to 8 years in prison custody with hard labour by the Duayaw Nkwanta Circuit Court Judge, His Honour Edward Twum.

Presenting the case at the Duayaw Nkwanta Circuit Court, D/C/ Inspr. Mawuli O. Agbe said, on 4th January 2023, at about 1:30 am the accused, Rafiu Ibrahim who is a University graduate and an unemployed from Derma in the Tano South Municipal of the Ahafo Region, unlawfully break into the main banking hall of the Derma Rural Bank and managed to remove the three (3) electrical fuse, turned the CCTV camera at the main entrance to a blank space and also managed to break the save of the bank and got arrested.

The prosecutor continued that, upon his arrest, the accused, Rafiu Ibrahim pleaded guilty to the five counts and informed the police that, he wanted to set a record of being the only person to break into the bank.

He added that the accused upon unlawfully breaking into the bank again managed to steal the Ghana Card verification device which was valued at Gh¢30, 000.00 and one hard drive external Tb valued at Gh¢6,000.

The presiding judge over the case, His Honour Edward Twum upon hearing the facts of the case gave the accused 8 years imprisonment with hard labour but the accused pleaded with the presiding judge to forgive him since he is a University graduate and has been in the house without a job since 2020 but the judge did not listen to his plea but sentenced Rafiu Ibrahim.
