Flagbearer of the opposition NDC says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has mismanaged Ghana's economy.

According to John Dramani Mahama, the economy under the Akufo-Addo led government has been the worst in the country's 4th republic.

“Were you expecting Nana Akufo-Addo to say anything different about my campaign? Do you think my opponent will commend my campaign? He does not have a concrete campaign message. The economy has collapsed. It is the worse economy in the 4th Republic.” Mahama said speaking to BBC Pidgin.

Mr. Mahama said Ghanaians are living in poor conditions due to the country's poor economy.

Mahama rubbished suggestions that the Coronavirus pandemic contributed to Ghana’s economic challenges.

He indicated that economies of countries such as Cote D’lvoire were flourishing despite the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The economy messed up before Coronavirus set in. If the economy was so good, why is in shambles? Côte d’Ivoire’s economy is surviving despite Coronavirus. This government is just engaged in propaganda. Life is hard for citizens,” he insisted.

Mr. Mahama thus implored Ghanaians to consider his superior track record to vote for him in the upcoming elections.

“We have a track record. Ghanaians should compare their lives in 2016 to today. Social and economic infrastructure improved under our watch. We built hospitals and schools. This government has just been constructing toilets. They have not built a single hospital. Every government built a secondary school, but they have not constructed any.”
