The 64 recalcitrant persons were made to sit in the open to feel the scorchy sun following refusal to comply with Covid-19 protocols.

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly and the Obuasi East district have arrested 64 persons who have not complied with the wearing of nose mask directive by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

They were arrested in Obuasi on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, by the Obuasi Municipal COVID-19 task force; a joint team of police, fire service, prison service and the immigration service.

This comes at a time when COVID-19 cases are on the rise in Obuasi.

Currently, the Obuasi East and West have recorded more than 50 cases which is a worry for some people in the Municipality.

Soiree news correspondent Yaw Opoku, in an interview with the Obuasi police commander, DSP Martin Asenso said, the Police Command will not sit aloof until it sees total compliance with the directive.

 The 64 arrested people were lined up openly at the Central Police station Obuasi to feel the scorch of the sun as punishment.
