43-year-old man arrested for possessing fake currencies at Kasoa 

The Kasoa Divisional Police Command have arrested a 43-year man old in possession of fake currencies at Kasoa, in the Central Region of Ghana.

The suspect, Kofi Appiah was arrested at Estate junction in control of bundles of 50 cedi notes suspected to be fake, and some dollar notes.

After further interrogation, the Police noted that several fake currencies were retrieved in his apartment. 

Speaking to the Angel news reporter Opanyin Darko, the Divisional Crime Officer for Kasoa DSP Owusu Dwumoh indicated that charges of possession of fake currency will be preferred against the suspect.

"We here informed he was transacting with someone with the fake currency," he ended.

"Our men went to his house and he was arrested. He was searched and on his roofing top, we discovered many fake currencies.

"We suspect that the 50 cedis note in the 'Ghana Must Go' are fake and so we brought him to the Police Station. He has pronounced that some gave him the money at Accra new town so we are looking forward to bring the person in.

"We also discovered a 200 dollar note and black papers which he defrauds people with. We cannot be certain of the genuity of the dollar notes unless examination proves it. 

"He is in our custody for interrogation."

The Police are however warning the general public especially traders to be wary of fake currencies on the market and report to them accordingly.
