A total of 21,368 students from 21 schools in the Northern region are writing this year's West Africa Senior Certificate examination (WASSCE), says the Northern Regional Education Director, Mr Attafuah Ptincipal.

Out of the total number, 21,065 are from public schools and 303 from Private schools, he made this known when he toured some examination centres with Northern Regional Minister.

The Regional Minister, Honourable Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu visited a number of examination centres in the North including the Northern School of Business, Islamic Senior and the Savelugu Senior School.

Hon Shaibu urged the candidates to comport themselves and abide by the rules and regulations governing the exams.

He registered his disappointment over poor students performance in the previous exams in 2020.

He, therefore, encouraged the candidates to take their time to answer questions appropriately.
