2022 Ramadan to begin March 31st - Leader of Tijjaniyya announced

The Supreme Leader of the Tijaniya Muslim Council of Ghana, Khalifa Sheikh Ahmed Abulfaid Maikano has announced Thursday, March 31 for the commencement of the 2022 Ramadan fasting.

“The 29 or 30 days fasting begins on the 31st day of March 2022. The intention should be taken on the 30th of March against 31st at dawn because 31st March will be the 1st of Ramadan” he said.

The announcement was made during the commissioning of a mosque in Nalerigu as part of his tour of the North East region.

Fasting is the fourth of the five pillars of Islam. It is prescribed for all Muslims who are mature and healthy enough to do so for the whole month.

During Ramadan Muslims above fifteen (15) years abstain from eating, drinking Smoking and engaging in any sexual activity from dawn to sunset. Some scholars are against the cleansing of teeth with toothpaste or fresh chewing sticks during the hours of the fast whilst some are for.

So Muslims fast as an act of worship, a chance to get closer to Allah and a way to become more compassionate to those in need.
