The Chiefs and people of the  Adonkwanta, a farming community in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti region have benefited from President Nana Akufo Addo's 1D1F project.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has on Thursday, September 9, commissioned a food processing factory at Adonkwanta in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti region.

The factory is a Ghanaian-Owned project under the One District one factory initiative promised by the president.

The CH Global Limited is a Ghanaian-owned company and has become the first-ever factory to be built in the Oti region under the government’s flagship One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) programme to create jobs for the youths and boost economic activities.

The company currently has 52 direct and over 200 trained factory hands as workforce and would be engaged in yam and cassava processing in the Oti Region.

Speaking with the Technical and Operations Director of the company, Fred Darko, the company would be exploiting the large yam and cassava production potentials of the Oti region for raw materials, with over 800 tubers expected to be processed daily, once the factory fully kick starts its operationalization.

According to him, the idea to build the company in the Oti region is to ensure that, it creates jobs for the youths and also ensures farmers do not go at a loss after producing their farm produce like Yam and Cassava.

Mr Fred Darko indicated that “Currently, the company has trained over 200 out-growers in the local community and every single day, we have the local farmers bringing us their harvested yam for us to purchase, which is very good for them, which is enhancing their standards of living with a ready market for their produce.”

The CH Foods factory project which began in 2018 has been funded by the Eximbank at a cost of GHS10 million.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo who is currently on a two-day working visit tour of the Volta and Oti regions visited the Oti Integrated Waste Treatment Facility at Dambai which is almost complete for operationalization by Zoomlion company Limited in the Oti Region.
He ended his tour in the Oti Region at the Dodo Pepesu road construction project which is about 80 per cent complete.

The president is expected to continue his working visit tour in the Volta region where he would be visiting and inspecting other government projects in the Volta region before leaving back to Accra.
