Leila Djansi has urged Ghanaians to work on their accents in order to secure jobs globally.

According to the 'A Northern Affair' director, she has lost a number of jobs because of her intonation therefore she does not expect other celebrities to go through what she has been. Djansi revealed that if not for her African accent, she would have won an Oscar.

"You walk into places, they hear your accent and they're already doubting what you're capable of. They're already doubting you because you're African. Look, if my accent was British, I'd probably have won a mainstream Oscar already."

“I kid you not about this accent issue. That's what they're going to hear and ask where you're from. The number of jobs I have lost because of an African accent is crazy.”

After expressing to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, regarding her loss because of word pronunciation divulged why most African film directors in the west like Chinonye Chukw, have changed to suit the demand market and secure jobs.

Leila cautioned that, she is not changing her identity no matter what critic says yet she is not moving to Ghana due to the lack of support especially for the Arts Industry.
