Ghanaian and African rap god, Michael Owusu Addo, has brought to light what made him choose the name "Sarkodie" as his stage name.

Everyone on the music scene both locally and internationally is aware of the rapper called Sarkodie on one level or the other because of the niche he has created for himself on the go. Michael Owusu Addo on the other hand is a name that not many people know.

When asked by M.Anifest on Instagram Live why he chose the name 'Sarkodie' over every other name he could have chosen, including his birth name Michael, he answered that all the people that were rich around him when he was a kid were all called "Sarkodie" and he thought giving himself a name that symbolizes wealth would draw wealth over to him.

“…most of the Sarkodie’s wey I see the time I be kiddie dem all they be rich. So I was a child mentally I feel say the Sarkodie get some effect make e give you wealth. That be why I pick am” he explained.
