West Ham extends Soucek loan deal until the end of the season

West Ham United have extended the loan deal of Tomas Soucek until the end of the current season, the club confirmed on Monday, June 8, 2020.

Soucek joined the Hammers from Slavia Prague and his deal was to expire on June 30, 2020, but with the recent coronavirus pandemic, which halted the league season, the London club and Russians have agreed to let the Czech Republican International finish ‘Project Restart.’

“West Ham United can confirm that Tomas Soucek has extended his loan spell at London Stadium until the end of the 2019/20 season,” the club confirmed.

“The Czech Footballer of the Year has impressed in his four appearances in Claret and Blue after initially joining the Hammers from Slavia Prague on a temporary basis in January.

“Premier League rules were recently amended to permit that, where all parties agree, a loan agreement expiring on or before 30 June 2020 could be extended to the end of Season 2019/20, paving the way for the central midfielder to remain in east London until at least the current Premier League campaign is completed,” the statement added.

West Ham does hold a £13million option on the midfielder to sign him permanently come the end of the season.
