England’s Wembley according to Associated Press will be confirmed as the host of the UEFA Champions League final in 2023.

The New Wembley is known in the Champions League competition after staging the 2011 challenge when Manchester United were beaten by Barcelona to lift the trophy and the 2013 affair involving Borussia Dortmund loss to and Bayern Muinchen.

The announcement will be made later this month at the UEFA executive committee meeting on the September 24, at Slovenia, Ljubljana.

Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul, Turkey has been chosen by the Union of European Football Association to parade the finals of this year’s competition whereas Russia’s St’ Petersburg will stage the 2021 battle in Europe’s top elite club competition. Munich’s Allianz Arena is named as hosts in 2022.

Before the old Wembley was closed in 2000 it had hosted five European Cup finals, though had never staged a match since the competition was rebranded as the Champions League in 1992.
