The Managing Director of Kuapa Kokoo, Mr. Samuel Adimado has communicated that COCOBOD will soon introduce a cashless system as part of strategies to prevent robbers from threatening the lives of cocoa buyers.

 

 

Speaking to the press on Wednesday, November 14, 2019 at the Miklin Hotel during the 25th Annual Delegates Conference of Kuapa Kokoo Cooperative Farmers Union (KKFU), Mr. Aimado updated that the cocoa marketing company is collaborating with the Police on the necessary steps to improve security after recent murder of one of their cashiers at Tepa by robbers.

“If money is a bait for armed robbers to attack our various depts, then we will run a cashless system where will have no cash available. The system is part of the government policy where we will do electronic transfers and banks to make sure that transaction of cocoa is not affected,” he said.

 

 

Mr. Samuel Adimado spoke that the attacks on cocoa buyers has created panic among partners in the sector which is very distressing therefore educating the stakeholders is one unique approach to dissolve the fright.

“If you hear that your colleague has lost his life through such a situation, you ll be scared and even our partners are scared. We’ll share information with our partners because we belong to Association of Licensed Cocoa Buyers on what happened. The Police will educate us to ensure that peace and tranquility prevail and people will do their business will the usual excitement of their cocoa,” he ended.
