Ghanaian movie producer, Paul Adjei popularly known as Paul Gee, has asked Ghanaians to stop putting unnecessary pressure on them to make movies on the Coronavirus pandemic.

He summarized that apart from the ethical complications and the sensitivity of the topic, they are not obliged to do so.

“Since the coronavirus got into Ghana, there has been mounting pressure on us to do movies on the deadly virus but no one can force us to do so. If we feel like doing it we will but we can’t be pressured,” he said.

“I have heard comments that we do useless movies like Atta Mortuary Man but have failed to do movies on such an important thing,”

He said that although Ghanaians are clamoring for movies on the Coronavirus virus now, it is not something that they would be interested in purchasing in the longer run.

Producers do not like to take risks like that, as it would end up in unnecessary and avoidable losses.

“Lilwin or any popular actor will charge for his services and we cannot pay him knowing no one will buy it. If the government wants to give us funds to shoot such a movie then we can consider it.

“A few movie producers have done short skits on it but doing a whole movie will depend on the willingness of the producer. Such a movie will need a huge budget because we need to involve more actors and educate the masses on it. We cannot just do a movie on the coronavirus because we want to do it,” he said.

Paul Gee applauded Lilwin and other Kumawood actors for coming out to educate Ghanaians on the prevention of the deadly virus.
