The Member of Parliament of Kwabre East, Honorable Francisca Oteng Mensah has assured that the evacuated dumping site will be used for a meaningful project to benefit resident at Ahwiaa Overseas.

The Municipality last week levelled the heaped grounds of garbage after its existence for more than 30 years, posing threats to the health of residents and pupils in a nearby school.

The Kwabre East Municipal on Monday, November 23, 2020, presented 20 dustbins to the community to prevent them from dumping randomly in the vicinity and per the words of the parliamentarian, they are yet to meet leaders and people in the community to decide what project would best suit them before accommodating it on the grounds.

“This dumpsite has been there for over 30 years and so you can imagine the heap. People around this area were not living comfortably and its removal has presented a conducive environment for pupils in the school. The health implications for people living closer to the grounds was dangerous and did not promote the safety needs of residents.

“We are pleading to them to avoid dumping here. People have started registering for dustbins and that is what we seek because we are getting Zoomlion involved to empty the bins when they are full.

"We will meet with the chief and people and decide what project will be beneficial to residents before making the next decision. Some are suggesting toilet facilities, CHPS compound and others. We will soon decide on what the community see fit,” she said.
