WASSCE RIOTS: GES Dismisses 14 Students over indiscipline; Interdicts 3 teachers

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed some 14 students in connection to recent acts of indiscipline and vandalism recorded during the conduct of the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

GES has also barred the students from writing the remaining West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams.

Thomas Anokye – Tweneboah Koduah SHS

Juliet Amoakowaa – Tweneboah Koduah SHS

Emmanuel Ashiangmor – Battor SHS

Peter Sissi – Battor SHS

Ameka Nyamiitse – Battor SHS

Shadrack Daitey – Battor SHS

Alfred Attiso – Battor SHS

Solomon Brako – Juaben SHS

Albert Agyekum – Juaben SHS

Robert  Inkoom – Juaben SHS

In the statement, GES condemned the various acts of indiscipline.

Also, GES has interdicted some teachers namely Thomas Anpkue of Tweneboa Kodua SHS, Joseph Andoh of Sekondi College and Evans Yeboah of Kade Senior High Technical School.

“They are further being referred to the security agencies for further investigations,” GES said in the statement.

Meanwhile, all students who are in schools where destruction of school property occurred are to be surcharged for the full cost of the damage.

According to GES, the results of these students will be withheld until they have fully paid up the full cost of items destroyed.

In other related developments, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Gonja Municipal Assembly, Saeed Muhazu Jibreel, has revealed that about 13 students have been identified to have masterminded the rioting in the Ndewura Jakpa Senior High School on Tuesday.

He said disciplinary action will be taken against the suspect in opportune time.

According to the MCE, the authorities are delaying in arresting the suspects because it could cause another rioting which can mar the final examination.
