Voters’ Registration: EC Clarifies the Guarantor System

The Electoral Commission (EC) described as false, an audio making rounds on social about some supposed “flaws” in the EC’s guarantor system used in the ongoing voters’ registration exercise.

The EC in a statement today, said, the particular post – in which the speaker introduced himself as McKenzie – should be disregard, since the guarantor system is functioning as intended to.

McKenzie is believed to have alleged that an individual could guarantee more than ten persons in the registration exercise without being spotted by EC officials or the EC’s system.

However, the EC said, guaranteeing for more than ten persons, is a prosecutable offence. The commission added that, its systems are capable of picking out individuals that will engage in this electoral malfeasance.
