Virgil van Dijk will be available for selection in Liverpool’s Community Shield match against Arsenal on Saturday at Wembley.

The Dutch captain sustained a head injury on Tuesday afternoon as the Reds played a 2-2 drawn game with RB Salzburg in Austria. The manager after the game assured that its not much of a problem following discomforts by Reds fans that the center back might not feature against the Gunners on Saturday.

“Virgil looks fine, he looks not good because he has the cut there, but apart from that it should be fine,” the boss said, during his pre-match press conference.

Liverpool lost 2-1 at the Emirates in their last outing with Arteta’s side following Van Dijk and Alisson Becker’s blunders, which resulted in goal having already crowned champions of the Premier League.

The manager further revealed that the decision to play Trent would be decided tomorrow, having missed the Reds’ pre-season training camp in Austria. Henderson and Joel Matip are responding to treatment and could be available for Liverpool's first league match against Leeds United two weeks later.

“All the boys which were not involved so far or got slight knocks in pre-season will not be available for tomorrow, but [are] getting closer, really closer, closer and closer so hopefully, the majority of them can start training completely normal after the Arsenal game, but this game is now a bit too early for them. Maybe one or two [will be] involved in the squad, we have to see.

“That’s it pretty much. Hendo and Joel [Matip] looking really good, on a good way. Ox, early stages but good. Shaq, good. Trent, very close, we have to make a decision about tomorrow. Harry [Wilson] looks good.”
