The home side started strongly in the early stages giving Spurs less playing time on the ball.

Olympiakos had the early chance to take the lead in the 8-minute. Ndombele lost ball and Pondence decided to run straight at Vertoghen. The Spurs defender backed off until the edge of the box urging Pondence to strike on but it deflected off the Belgian and straight to Lloris.

The less impressive Spurs were awarded a penalty in their first dangerous move toward goal. Meriah dangled the leg of Kane in the box ascending from the right. The referee did not need to call on VAR standing close to the incident clearly. Harry Kane stood forward and straight down the middle, he powered Spurs ahead in the 25-minute. The England captain registered his eight goal in eight appearances for club and country.

Five minutes later, Lucas Moura added another thunderous goal. Davies won the ball back high up the field. Lucas Moura went for it and pounded on the loose ball, he drove to the edge of the box and whipped an unstoppable effort in the left hand corner of the net. The first goal was a confidence booster for Spurs as they dominated play for a while before the second.

Dele Ali almost added a third to end his 14-game goal drought. He caught-in off the left flank and took aim from 20 yards. He sent a fizzing effort towards the goal but sailed over the bar.

The hosts scored in the 44-minute to cut down their deficit. Two most creative players on the field for Olympiakos combined with Valbuena releasing Daniel Pondence in down the right channel. He swiftly enter the Spurs yard and picked the out the bottom left-hand corner with a clinical finish.

The referee gave Olympiakos a penalty in the 52-minute after Vertoghen got too high to Valbuena who didn’t need an extra invitation to go down. The Frenchman levelled the scores.

He was later subbed for defensive minded Benzia.

Both teams were balanced after the equalizer. They treaded carefully upfront and cautiously at the back to avoid conceding. Pondence in the 75-minute out sprinted Davies down the line and made something out of nothing. He caught back for Benzia but the midfielder hoofed the ball over the bar from 18 yards.

Lamela replaced Moura for Spurs. The game progressed into a steady approach as a great opportunity presented its way for Spurs. Lamela showed a neat change of pace down the left and got through. Kane screamed for the ball in a better position across goal but he went greedy and looked for the near post but Sa tipped it away.

The game ended after five minutes of additional time.
