Juventus celebrate Costa's goal

A last-gasp drama sent Juventus through to the UEFA Champions League knockout stages.

Douglas Costa's wonderful late goal despaired Lokomotiv, who could not finish in the top two of Group D.

Juventus took the lead in the 4-minute through Aaron Ramsey from a goalkeeping error.

Lokomtive’s goalkeeper Guilherme allowed Ronaldo's low drive from the left-wing free-kick to slip through his hands in the centre of his goal. Ramsey darted in to ensure the ball was over the line.

The homeside came stronger after the goal and dominated the game pressing the Juventus backline. Joao Mario had a chance missed in the 7-minute from a curler just over the bar, seemingly unable to decide whether he wanted to shoot or cross.

Soon Loko were level I the 12-minute. Aleksei Miranchuk met a cross from the left with a powerful header that skimed off the turf and hit the inside of Szczęsny's far post, rebounding kindly to allow the Lokomotiv man to find the net with the keeper stranded.

They grew in confidence as the game progressed and missed a few chances which should have seen them kill the game. Ronaldo amidst the pressure managed to threaten the homeside but his header inside the penalty area from Pjanic’s left cross wing was well over the bar.

Juve gradually resurrected from their slumber after that early gift. After the leveler by Moskva, they contolled the ball with focus, making fewer mistakes upfront whiles the homeside gave them not much room for opportunities.

Dougals Costa was introduced in the second half for Samir Khedira. The substitution allowed Bentancur to play in midfield instead of the Germany international. Juve passed to a 4-3-3 formation with Ronaldo, Higuaín and Douglas Costa in attack.

He impacted the game late by giving Juventus the winner. What a goal it was by the substitute. The striker raced down the left and played a wonderful one-two with Higuaín, whose backheeled pass from just outside the area found Douglas Costa's run. He finished beyond Guilherme to send the visitors wild.

Juventus are on top of Group D with 10 points trailed by Atletico Madrid with eight.
