The game was a balanced affair between the two sides. Whenever Chelsea missed a chance, the Spanish captalized on till the ball was won or wasted. The brightest opportunity of the game fell for Rodrigo in the 19-minute Valencia built an attack from inside their own half, Parejo measured a sumptuous long pass onto the run of Rodrigo behind the Chelsea defence down the right. The Spain wideman surged into the penalty area and cued a low cross onto the run of the unmarked Maxi Gómez at the far post, who somehow swiped into thin air rather than tapping the chance into the open net.

The home side intensified play pressed the Blues. Jorginho clattered into a challenge on Gaya, although there was a bit of confusion over who tackled who first, and eventually, it was given as a penalty. captain Parejo stepped up, but Kepa guessed the right way and pushed the ball wide,

Wass levelled the scores in the 82-minute for Valencia from the left. As to whther It was a shot or not, the player would be in the best position to tell. Wass was fed down the right-hand side and pinged the ball into the area, which smacked the far post and went into the back of the net. Kepa did not judge it well and it would have been hard to predict, but he should have done better there.

After seven minutes of additional time, the game ended 2-2 for both sides.
