An eyewitness told that one person was eventually killed at the spot whiles the other died on their way to Okomfo teaching Hospital.

Two Persons are feared dead after a Kia truck with suspected to have failed its brake run into five parked cars before falling on the road on Monday, June 8, 2020, in Kumasi.

The incident occurred at the Adehyeman market and the loaded truck with registration number GT 5361-16 according to eye witness report was heading towards Kejetia after it offloaded boxes of soaps. The car veered off the road, run into a few cars, and fell onto the opposite side.

Per the account of one of the victims, the drivers of the five cars that were badly crashed escaped unhurt, causing damage to two cars.

 

 

Speaking to SoireeNews, one of the victims known as Mercy narrated that, the Kia truck had it brakes develop a fault while the driver was trying to save pedestrians in an attempt. She revealed that the truck changed course and run into seven people including a Kayayei and a yam seller.

She told that one was eventually killed at the spot whiles the other died on their way to Okomfo teaching Hospital. The other five are also reported to be in critical condition.

According to traders stationed at the very spot where the incident happened, many such accidents have occurred in recent times at that very location which has created fear and panic among sellers. They drew attention to the poor nature of the road as the contributing factor.

The sellers related that potholes among others have taken over most parts of the stretch creating a difficult situation for both motorists and passengers to use.
