The Divisional Police Commander for Tafo Pankrono, ACP. K. A Arhin has make known that troskis in Kumasi, have low compliance level in observing the precautionary measures of COVID-19, which makes it necessary to put them in check to prevent the virus from escalating.

According to the ACP, tricycle must convey two people including the rider to destination based on the social distancing directives however, the rule has been broken; an exercise of unpatriotism which is life threatening to inhabitants assuring that strict discipline against troski riders will soon be employed to promote orderliness in the Kwabre East Municipality and other neighboring Districts.

 

 

“The accordance level of Trotro cars is very encouraging and I commend them for their effort. Something like the Troskis are worsening the social distancing directive. They are supposed to transport two people including the rider yet they are not doing what is required; the rules has to be enforced. It is our duty as security agents to make sure citizens go by the measures,” he said.

Speaking to SoireeNews on Thursday morning, May 7, 2020,  the Divisional Police Commander explained that the work of security services are sometimes overlooked when unpatriotic riders, drivers and residents fail to be chastised by the law court due to the fact that cases are declined for the reason that there are no prerogative over them.

“At times when you arrest people who flout over the laws, the court decline that they have no jurisdiction over such cases. When it happens that way, it makes our job difficult and does not encourage us to do more. We cannot keep such people forever; they have 48 hours.

 

 

“Elsewhere people have been fined, why can’t we instill such here? It is a sort of discouragement when such are declined, “he explained.

He made known that the rate of wearing masks and remarking the social distancing order in the Municipality is very low and it is needful that strict laws are effected. He further advised citizens to avoid contracting the virus by means of paying attention to the health advice by frontline workers through the wearing of nose masks, washing hands regularly and the application of alcohol based sanitizers.

 

 

“The compliance level is very low as far as I am concerned. Many people have flouted on the rules of wearing masks and social distancing. The mandatory interest is really helping in some areas and it’s a good step.

“Coronavirus is real, nothing farther from the truth. People are not taking the disease serious for lack of belief. It is our duty to protect each other. We must observe the social distancing since we are not in normal times.

“Our rise in numbers tells us that the virus is real. If you have nothing doing, stay home and protect others from being infected. We are not happy to be wearing this, yet we have no choice,” he advised.
