The transfer of RB Leipzig’s forward, Timo Werner to Liverpool was scheduled to happen had the Reds secured their first Premier League title after 30 years of expedition yet the coronavirus pandemic halted sporting activities which postponed further plans for Liverpool to celebrate, having gone 25 points from second place Manchester City.

According to the Sun, Jurgen Klopp's plans to meet Timo Werner and convince him to come to join Liverpool are being derailed by the coronavirus pandemic after the player personally showered praises on the English club following his visit to London to feature in the UEFA Champions League against Spurs.

“Yes I know that Liverpool is the best team in the world at the moment,” he said.

“When you’re linked with that team it makes you very proud but in case of that, it’s a pleasure.

“But I know Liverpool have a lot of good players.

“I have to improve myself and to learn much more things to get on this level and to play there,”he said after the Spurs game when asked about Liverpool’s link.

Rumors by an Italian journalist, Nico Schira last month exposed that Timo Werner had agreed personal terms with Liverpool.

The pressman suggested that the Reds have offered the Italian a long term contract and the player will receive €8m per year plus bonuses until 2025.

“#Liverpool have offered to Timo #Werner a contract until 2025 with a wages of €8M + bonuses a year. Talks ongoing to finalize the deal. #transfers #LFC,” he tweeted.

Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp are upright in terms of transacting business with the German club following the transfer of Naby Keita, and the resumption of sporting activities could see Timo Werner at Anfield to help empower Klopp’s project.

Werner is known for his clinical ability and fine pace upfront and will engineer much goal scoring solutions to the team.

He is also linked to Bayern Munich yet with the praises showered at Klopp, it is likely that his preferred destination will be Merseyside especially when his former team mate, Naby Keita is available to partner with him.
