Thiago Alcantara has reaffirmed his decision to leave Bayern Munich.

The player earlier rejected a contract extension to further his stay with the Bavarians.

The Bild reported on Wednesday that Liverpool must pay £25m to secure the services of Thiago Alcantara from Bayern.

The Spaniard has reiterated to sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic that he is looking forward to a new test outside the Bundesliga, with his current nearing to the end.

"The talks Hasan had with him have always been very productive. And at some point it actually seemed that it was done [a new contract at Bayern],"Club chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Sky Germany.

"But then Thiago informed Hasan that he would like to do something new. We have to accept that."

The 29-year old has already agreed terms with Klopp’s Liverpool and the two clubs are yet to settle on an offer for the former Barca player.

Bayern manager, Hansi Flick after winning the German Cup revealed that he is in the position of convincing the attacking midfielder to stay at the Allianz Arena.

"I also know, of course, that when you're at a certain age and you've already played in the Spanish league with Barcelona and in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, you feel the need to experience another big league.

"That is quite normal and that is also human. I'm trying my best to make sure Thiago stays here and that you can convince him to stay."
