‘There Is Nothing Wrong With Learning Different Languages’ – Ama K Abebrese Backs Leila Djansi

Award-winning British-Ghanaian actress /Tv presenter, Ama K Abebrese, has indicated that, there is nothing wrong with switching accents as an actor.

Few days ago, movie director Leila Djansi’s advised Ghanaians to work on their accents in order to secure international jobs.

Leila who revealed to Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz that she would have won an Oscar, if not for her African accent explained that, because to her intonation she has lost numbers of jobs which she does not want other celebrities to go through what she experienced therefore, she urged all to work on our pronunciations in order to suit the demand market and secure jobs.

Ama k. Abebrese has backed Leila after she was attacked by other artistes for her comments.

According to Ama, she witnessed that at an audition she attended some time ago therefore she see nothing wrong with Leila’s advice for she (Ama) knows that learning different languages also gives better chance when auditioning.

 “I totally understand where Leila is coming from because the reality of the matter is when you are in LA, Nollywood, sometimes you get that cast profile and they say American or UK accent or we looking for someone with a Jamaican or Ghanaian accent and I have been to auditions like that, for her as a director to say that, there is nothing wrong with it”,

“I know how people like to sensationalize, and go like Leila is saying you should go and speak LAFA. I don’t think what she said is bad but not everybody has to do that”.
