It was earlier reported that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government maintained that it will not legalize the use of Okadas(Commercial Motorcycles) in the country.

It said this through the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, who made the announcement at a program where German carmaker VW signed an MoU with BlackIvy to produce homes and cars for Ghanaians.

This came a few days after some members of the Okada Riders Association converged on the premises of Class Media Group (CMG) at Labone in Accra to meet the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama based on his promise to legalize the use of their favorite means of transport if re-elected.

The statement made by the NPP to maintain their stance on the use of Okada comes in sharp contrast with dancehall king, Stonebwoy's views.

Stonebwoy had earlier admitted that Ghanaians need the Okada's to navigate through the terrible traffic that can sometimes occur on Ghanaian roads.

"Sometimes were need to join the Okada charley…too much traffic my guy. Okada is good for the people. Ashaiman boy… I had to join the Okada because of too much traffic” he said.

The artiste made this admission when he recently visited Ashaiman, his home place. The traffic was hectic so he had to park his car on the roadside and the service of an okada.
