Stephanie Benson Reveals The Awareness Of Breast Cancer As A Victim

Stephanie Benson, a performer known for great jazz music has revealed the awareness of breast cancer on Joy FM's Cosmopolitan Mix.

According to her, she underwent mastectomy to remove the entire breast after years of breast cancer. She indicated that taking both her breast was a happy decision she made since she did not want to take any chances.

“I removed both my breast because I didn’t want it to come back, so it was a choice and I was happy I made that choice. I didn’t Wanna take any chances, I Wanna be around my grandchildren which I don’t have yet”. She added “They better hurry”

“Don’t be scared and yes I do exaggerate guys and the reason I am like that is because of the cancer, you got to understand that the body is just a body.”

“I lost my mum, my grandmother and two aunties but one of them was stomach cancer and the rest were breast cancer, but my mother died at 48 and 48 is when I was diagnosed so I was like OMG this is a cycle so I went to have the gen test and it came back under 20%”.

“So I thought like it was nothing in the gen so why is it such a cycle in the family and obviously It means my children and sisters are safe after the gen test but you know you cannot take those kind of chances”.

Stephanie revealed to the host, Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye that somebody texted her “You don’t have any breast why are you wearing that outfit”

And she replied, “I can take it I don’t really care, but somebody can’t take it.”

Stephanie Benson narrated that, in a discussion with other breast cancer fighters she was requested not to take off her outfits in the presence of her husband. She said,

“I told her I could take my clothes in front of him I don’t really care about all those things. Not having my breast will not define me”.
