Spanish La Liga will return to action on June 11, 2020 behind closed doors.

The first fixture will happen between Real Betis and Sevilla on Day one of the restart after La Liga announced on Spanish TV.

Football in Spain was suspended on March 12 due to the coronavirus pandemic but the ban on all sporting activities was lifted as the lockdown measures were eased by the Spanish Prime Minister.

Training begun among La Liga clubs in small groups last week after players went through the coronavirus testing.

According to the La Liga Chief, Javier Tebas the next objective was to progress to full training.

"Right now that's our main goal, and if we can achieve that then we can start to bring forward the return of the competition. Our aim is to be able to announce the first four rounds of fixtures next week," he added.

"The government's announcement took us by surprise but it shows that professional football is very important to this country."

Champions Barcelona leads La Liga by two points over nearest challengers Real Madrid with 11 matches remaining.
