Sarkodie and Shatta Wale have elevated their beef towards each other in the past few weeks, throwing jabs at each other through songs and social media accounts.

Sarkodie has now stepped down a little by admitting that his rival's success has brought him success too. The Sarkcess Music label boss, Sarkodie admitted that Shatta Wale's collaboration with Beyoncé indirectly won him an Afrobeat contract.

The award winning rapper stated that he feels his Afrobeat deal only went through because of Shatta Wale's collaboration as his partners that were supposed to sign the deal before didn't understand what Afrobeat was before Beyoncé released her son with Shatta.

“So I was out of the country to sign a deal which was dragging for days. I had a deal with some white people. The same week Beyoncé released her song with Shatta Wale and after that, the people who were dragging their feet signed the deal for me, “he said.

For him, he felt Shatta Wale’s feature on Beyoncé’s album had opened a door and therefore needed to support the dancehall artist. He indirectly stated that Shatta Wale put Afrobeat on the international map for Ghanaians, this claim comes in contrast with the recent spat between the two artistes, as it appears that Sarkodie is showing himself as the better man.

He added that there is a need for artists in Ghana to support themselves but believes that selfishness has been the main problem to the growth of the music industry.

He stated that every artiste wants to claim the number 1 spot in the industry when in fact there is no number 1 spot.
