Outstanding Ghanaian artiste, Sherifa Gunu, has revealed that Sarkodie's 2012 hit ' Sherifa' was born out of his adoration for her.

The soul musician claimed that Sarkodie admired her so much that he composed a song for them to collaborate, then promptly named it after her to show deference. She made known that Sarkodie and his team had already recorded the song way before they met with her to get her to feature in it.

While speaking in an exclusive interview with Halifax on Okay FM, she was surprised to hear that a song had been named after her when she heard it the first time. She narrated how she met Sarkodie for the first time to work with him.

According to her, she was at La to play a show when she received a call from Sarkodie’s manager informing her of a meetup. After they met, the song was played and she immediately started to sing to it because the melody of the song was appealing.

Sarkodie and his team were forced to book a studio session on the spot to have her verse recorded because they did not want the moment to pass them by. She said that the song was then properly recorded the next day at the studio in 2012.

Sherifa Gunu hails from the Kingdom of Dagbon, in the Northern Region of Ghana, She was born into a royal family, she started her music and dance career at a tender. Sherifa Gunu left school at an early stage and later competed in both regional and national dance competitions.

She has done backings for Kojo Antwi, Amakye Dede, Daddy Lumba, Nana Acheampong, and Sarkodie and in all, she has made three albums.
