The Information Minister enlightened that the success of the agenda is for the benefit of the Nation and cautioned on against the use fake accounts to dupe citizens.

The Minister of Information, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has appealed to media relation experts to press on government’s “Ghana Beyond Aid” agenda given that its success is for the improvement of the nation.

The Minister made the call when addressing members of the Institute of Public Relations over the weekend. He disclosed government’s invitation of the Institute of Public Relations to serve on the Ghana Beyond Aid Communications strategy Committee which he believes, will pay off.

“As PR practitioners, it is our duty to let Ghanaians know, understand, and buy into the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda. We must deliver new attitudes that are required to fulfil it. That’s why we have invited the IPR to serve on the Communication Strategy Committee and we are looking forward to the output from your participation,”

The agenda, which focuses on effective harnessing of the country’s resources and deploying them creatively and efficiently for rapid economic and social transformation is one area that could recover Ghana to quit 'begging' for aids from advance countries .

The MP for Ofoase Ayirebi advised the gathering of media practitioners on the need to develop plans to overcome deliberate misrepresentation of facts on social media after the Ministry of Information released a press statement to caution against the use of fake accounts to dupe members of the public.

 

 

“The contemporary world of PR has been made more complex with the advent of deliberate misinformation campaigns spread widely through social media platforms and we have to be upfront and agile in confronting it. We will have to develop the tools and strategies to stay ahead of the curve quickly”.
