Ghanaian artiste, Kuami Eugene, has hit out at his critics who said his new song "Open Gate" lacks lyrical depth.

The Lynxx Entertainment act rubbished what he labeled as "unfounded claims" that he is running out of proper things to say in his songs when he was interviewed by MzGee on TV3’s New Day.

According to him, if his single "open gate", which is meant to be the lead song for his upcoming studio album, Son of Africa, were trash it would not have garnered more than half a million views on YouTube. He pointed out that the so-called critics who have been labeling his song as rubbish do not know what they are talking about.

He stated that the Ghanaian scene lacks experts who can think deep to understand the essence of art; that anyone can come and say anything and still be labeled as an "entertainment pundit".

“Hello No, the thing is music is craft, where are these same people talking now, how did I get half a million views in three days, why aren't they complaining about the fact that the song is moving so quick and the video is moving so fast, that's where my question comes from”

Kuami aimed his crosshairs at the critics, as he suggested that they don't really understand music.

“Whoever is saying that doesn’t actually understand what he is saying, a lot of people talk  about things they don’t understand, and currently in our world, a lot of people sit on shoes that they don’t even understand what the show is talking about,"

"and will probably not be maybe an entertainment person or somebody who has been in the studio or managed an artist for a long time or written songs for a long time, so they don’t actually know what they are talking about if they knew what they were talking about they will first think of the fact this song is getting half a million views in three days, how many Ghanaian artistes can pull that amount”

He then took his time to break down the lyrics on the show.

“if you have really listened to the song after saying wele, sebe, Kontomire, i made mention of do your walking, so that actually explains the ‘wele, sebe, kontomire’ because you know when we were kids we had a folktale we were playing with,"

"when we see a nice woman passing by we used to say wele, sebe, kontomire, we were looking at the woman’s buttocks, so it is just something that goes with the song, do your walking, do that wele, sebe, kontomire, when   you are walking down the aisle, its like its your wedding and your walking to the pastor so do that your wedding walk”.

Kuami Eugene is set to release his ‘Son of Africa’ album on 9th October 2020.
