The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council have protested against the ‘disrespectfulness’ of some members of the National Democratic Congress towards, Osagyefo Amotia Ofori Panyin II, Okyenhene.

The Council demands the apology of the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Kwame Zu to personally render an unqualified apology towards the Okyenhene and retract offensive words used in his speech against him during a protest march organized by the Coalition for National Sovereignty in Kumasi.

According to the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council, Mr Kwame Zu reportedly made unsavory remarks against the people of Akyem Abuakwa and the person of Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin.

The remarks did not go down well with the people in the area hence the massive demonstration at Kyebi on Monday morning.

The demonstrators held placards with inscriptions threatening the National Democratic Congress to desist from campaigning on the grounds of the Okyenhene.

“This nonsense from NDC must stop”, “NDC koraa what has Okyenhene and Kyebi done to you?”, “NDC, leave Kyebi alone”, “Shameless NDC”, some of the placards read.

Others bore the inscriptions, “NDC, your filth won’t stick”, “Zu of NDC, you are a disgrace”NDC, you can’t divide Ghana”, “NDC and Zu, Okyeman has rejected you”, “NDC, you won’t get away this time”, among others.
