No one can stop us from using Our Covid-19 Cure – Madagascar’s President Responds to Critics

Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina insists his country will continue using its indigenous COVID-19 cure to treat patients infected with the virus, in spite of growing criticisms regarding it safety.

According to the president, the herbal drink, Covid-19 Organics “works well”, and the proof of the tonic’s efficacy is in the “healing” of the country's covid-19 patients.

World Health Organisation has consistently warned against Madagascar’s COVID-Organics over claims that it has not been tested and proven.

But in Andry Rajoelina in an interview with France24, said the position of the World Health Organization on the herbal concoction is because it was discovered in Africa.

“What if this remedy had been discovered by a European country, instead of Madagascar? Would people doubt it so much? I don’t think so” he said.

“What is the problem with COVID-Organics, really? Could it be that this product comes from Africa? Could it be that it’s not OK for a country like Madagascar, which is the 63rd poorest country in the world… to have come up with (this formula) that can help save the world?” Rajoelina questioned the critics.

He noted that “no one will stop us from moving forward – not a country, not an organisation.”

Rajoelina said Madagascar has reported 171 coronavirus infections and 105 recoveries to date, with no deaths.

So far, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Niger and Tanzania have already taken delivery of consignments of Covid-Organics, which was launched last month.
