A tornado tore through the city of Nashville, Tennessee, on Monday night.

A tornado is a very strong and destructive windstorm that occurs on land. It looks like a funnel and rotates all about, destroying everything in it’s path. 

Nashville is a City in Tennessee. Tennessee is a State in the United States of America (U.S).

25  lives have been confirmed to be lost, the death toll is still rising. Some lives have still not been accounted for and several others have been confirmed injured. 

Apart from the lives that were lost, powers and transportation systems were severely damaged as the tornado tore apart everything in it’s area of effect. 

 Part of the facilities caught in its area of effect were multiple facilities of tech giants, Dell. The company confirmed that several partner facilities sustained damage from the storm. 

Tens of thousands of  people have also been displaced, as their homes were destroyed by the storm. At least 45 buildings collapsed and several other buildings were severely damaged.

The whole city was left without power and the tornado struck parts of central Tennessee.

More than 50,000 homes and businesses were dark and about 47,000 customers were still without electricity by late Tuesday evening.

The residents have gathered together to comfort themselves and provide support for those in need of shelter, as a vigil was held on Tuesday night at the Public Square Park. 

With the Governor, Bill Lee, saying that he was proud of the residents who helped each other in the aftermath. He said,

In the worst of circumstances the best of people comes out, and that’s what we’re seeing here in Tennessee.

More than 5,000 people have already signed up to volunteer to rebuild the city.

This tornado is the second in Tennessee history, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’sStorm Prediction Centre.

22 people died in a tornado on February 5, 2008, according to federal authorities.

The National Weather Service has said that the rating of the Nashville’s tornado was EF-2, which just means that the strength of the tornado is enough to uproot the foundation oh houses in its path.
