The progenitor of the Hiplife genre in Ghana, Reggie Rockstone, has claimed that his father, St Ossei came up with the patch jeans style.

According to him, his father had designed the style in the 70's before big designers like Dolce and Gabanna got the wind of it. He claimed that the huge brands got the idea from his father Ricky Ossei, who was into fashion designing back in the day.

He made his assertions after he saw a photo of Cardi B in a fit identical to the one his dad wore in the 70s. Reggie made the bold claim that his father had created the initial props and laid down the ingenious idea before anyone else in the world got to know about it.

The veteran said this in an Instagram post. Where he uploaded images of his father and Cardi B sporting the same outfit in a collage format. He wrote: 

“SO I CANT STOP SAYING THIS THO! MY FATHER INVENTED THE “patch jeans” style in the 70s for Yankee and got sum ok props for it ( there he is modeling his own????????) DOLCE DO SAME AND ITS HUGE ( cardi Dey wear for this pic) LIFE NO FAIR OR LIFE DEY BLEACH????????? so where dem see for eh??? #blackshadamatterz #daben#enoeasyo #oneday THE LEGENDARY ST OSSEI WE SALUTE YA????????✊????????????.”

Cardi B had taken the photo of herself in a patchwork Canadian tuxedo with a literal matching denim bra early last year.

The denim outfit was made up of Dolce & Gabbana patchwork mid-rise jeans and a patchwork denim jacket (plus a Namilia denim bra, of course). Cardi B’s heels matched the ensemble in color—as did her eye shadow—and her bright pink nails offered a vibrant pop of difference to the outfit.

She also uploaded of the outfit. The video shows Cardi B sitting in the car with her patchwork jeans halfway down, talking about how they were too tight to sit in.
