Jose Mourinho is in strong pursuit to land former Liverpool talisman, Philippe Coutinho.

Spurs are ahead of Arsenal, Chelsea, and Leicester for the Barcelona midfielder who is enjoying a loan spell with FC Bayern Munich until the end of the Champions League competition.

The Brazilian earlier rejected an offer from Manchester United last season before he made a loan move to the Bundesliga from Barcelona.

The German club is unwilling to make Coutinho’s stay permanent as Barcelona are ready to receive respectable sums to recover from the £145m fee paid to Liverpool for the services of the player.
