Ghanaian singer, Dan Lartey has pinned the recent issues surrounding male managers and their female artistes in the music industry on the respective bosses.

The Chief Executive Officer of Remedi Entertainment (a media-related firm which deals with Artiste Management and Music Promotion) has blamed female artiste managers for not being professional enough in their line of work.

According to him, managers are at fault for not separating business from pleasure with their artistes placing the fault squarely on their inability to draw the line between business and dating when they get to manage female singers.

Although he also defended the managers, revealing that most female artistes do not provide a proper return on investments in cash, so their managers sometimes have to resort to dating them to at least gain back some of their investments in kind yet he cautioned on the need to define business out of pleasure.

He advised against it and warned involvers to seek other alternatives because the act of introducing love affairs into businesses could later affect the relationship between artists and managers in the long run.

"Every love comes with an agenda so there is absolutely nothing wrong with an artist dating his or her manager. I’ve managed so many women in the music industry but I never had an interest in any of them because I took it as business,” he said.

“I saw the artiste management as a business because the artiste saw me as an experienced manager and approached me to help them achieve their aim in music. There was no love or dating clause in the management deal I signed with them but that doesn’t mean in the course of managing the female artiste and I have interest in her, I shouldn’t express it."

“The problem we have as artiste managers is that we are unable to differentiate between the work and love.”
