The Queenmother of Mamponteng, Nana Kyerew Akenten II has disclosed that the Mamponteng Polyclinic will soon have an operating theater to carry out surgical operations with intentions of upgrading the facility into a Hospital soon.

Nana Akenten spoke that certain infrastructural development within the Mamponteng Municipality would be undertaken by the traditional rulers to better the living of residents and quit apportioning every piece of work towards government.

Nana Akenten addressed the gathering on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Mamponteng on the Inaugural Renovation Works at the Mamponteng Polyclinic Theatre under the sponsorship of Asanteman Royals from Netherlands.

‘Our facility was initially a health center. Although the District Hospital is stationed at Asonomaso, yet the patronage of inhabitants here at Mamponteng brought about the thought that this facility is the main Kwabre Hospital.

“We pleaded to government to help improve the service here into a modern standard but realized that government support takes time through processes and appointments,” she said.

The Queenmother spoke that although the Health facility was upgraded into a Polyclinic yet there was the conviction that someday it would be developed into a Hospital, which would attract enhanced doctors and nurses to serve the community and its surrounding towns.

She continued that after several consultations with the doctor at the center, he encouraged the introduction of an operating theater; a challenge which has led to the threatening of lifes in the community for years.

“Although the upgrade to a polyclinic was effected yet we (traditional rulers) knew that someday, it will become a hospital. We demanded an upgrade.

“We had to start something. We communicated to our new doctor and he revealed that it would be appreciating if surgeries were performed here. How long can we wait for the government to come to our aid in matters like this? His (government) tasks are many so we came to an agreement with the Chief to start renovating this place to suit a standard with qualified professionals to take care of our health,” she added.

The Renovation works which is championed by Asanteman Royals in Holland according to the Queenmother will upgrade the standard of the facility as the Chief and leaders have promised improve the way of life of people in the Mamponteng neighborhood.

She advised that though government’s responsibility is to help provide and resolve challenges citizens are going through yet it is the charge of traditional leaders to also deliver the best of services for the welfare of their inhabitants in order to define their role as authorities.
